These are photos of a newly renovated, attractively furnished, and conveniently located garden apartment for rent in Saugerties NY. It is 1/2 block off Partition Street, and one short block off Main Street in the center of the Village of Saugerties. (1 & 1/2 blocks from HITS offices.) It is a ground floor, one step up, apartment which shares the front entry hall with an upstairs apartment. approx. 800 sq ft. description begins ->

On the right is the bedroom, with a comfortable double bed, (with new firm pillow-top mattress) dresser and large closet. There is an overhead fan for a relaxing night's sleep. Below is a writing/dining table in the middle room. It was my grandmother's. There is a hidden leaf which "pops" up to provide seating for 4 to 6 people. This dining/living room also has its own front entrance, seen to the right of the table, with the bedroom door to the left.

On the right is an expanded view of the front room and center room with the entertainment center visible. There's a color TV with cable, and an FM/AM stereo with CD player. There is also an air conditioner. (To give you a better perspective, the top of the chair above on the left, is just visible in the lower left of the photo on the right.)

Below is the kitchen, with microwave, food processor and coffee machine. A new, full-size gas range and electric refrigerator make it easy to "eat in", although you are only one block from five good restaurants - with several others within easy walking distance.

Morning sunlight streams through street-side windows into the front room of this comfortable apartment. The original mantel, which was found in the basement when I bought the two-family house, was refinished by a local craftsman, and is returned to its original, but non-functional, place in the "front parlor". The picture is taken from between the pocket doors, also beautifully refinished, which separate this room from the living/dining room. The two easy chairs face a day-bed (below - with 2 single beds) and one of two front entrances off the shared foyer. Through the pocket doors, the table (pictured below left) is barely visible.

Presently, the apartment sleeps 3 to 4 persons, (2 single beds and one double bed) Add $25 per night each additional person (4 max)

Out the back door is a 20x45 fenced "garden" rear yard. It is all bark mulch and gravel paths, with 2 large blue spruce. There is no grass. It is planted with 100 daffodils, 50 daylilies, 100 incidental small spring bulbs, 2 climbing roses and clematis, 25 hosta, and 8 evergreen, 3 deciduous, and 3 flowering shrubs, all planted last spring and fall, (2004) and growing there this season.

Out the front door are galleries, interesting shops, waterfront parks for boating and swimming, great architecture - including pre-Revolutionary War stone houses and a lighthouse - all within walking distance. When you stay at 15 Jane Street, you're in the heart of all that Saugerties has to offer.

15 Jane Street is a non-smoking environment, with no pets allowed. It is also not "child-proof" - something to keep in mind when considering a stay here. But mature and responsible people of all ages are always welcome. Prices are for 1 or 2 people.
There is a $100 Cleaning and a $400 Security fee - which are fully refundable when you "leave it as you found it." (I haven't kept any yet!)
