How to Place Your Order

I have a disabled shopping cart - you can read the book descriptions but cannot check out.

• SHOPPING-CART -- Key word and subject searches are FULLY operational in my new shopping-cart activated store. No lengthy lists to scroll through, My NEW website has a  NEW Shopping-cart
  which is the easiest and best to use. It creates html lists based on your criteria with true "point and click" shopping - it even does the math! For now, the New York State Sales tax (for NY orders only) is figured at 7.75%, but the final billing will be less or more, as appropriate.
  
• EMAIL/MAIL -- Credit information can be mailed, or emailed. Personal checks/money orders can be mailed to: Hope Farm Press 252 Main Street Saugerties NY 12477.  Once your credit card information is on file, future transactions need only include the card type and exp date. [AND your email address - for order confirmation] IN FACT - you could just send me the title(s) with that information in an email rather than fill out the same form over and over. Your choice. 
  
• PHONE -- Order information can be called in on 800-883-5778. I receive orders all ways everyday.

  However you decide to order - Please be sure to include your name, address, payment and the titles you want when communicating. <- you'd be surprised how many forget that important info!

  Stocking Policy

  I currently maintain a stock of 2400 +/- titles and am slowly adding new ones as space allows. Nevertheless, I want to include hundreds more books previously unavailable to me, so that this web site can boast 2700+ books on New York State! These new titles may not be in stock when you order them, and may require additional delivery time. While I will make EVERY effort to keep the most popular titles on hand for speedy delivery to you, I ask your indulgence and patience should you incur a minor delay.
  

• If the book you order is in stock, it is shipped within 2 business days. Usually one day.
  
• If a book will take more than 14 days to come in I will notify you. Then you can cancel the order or wait - your choice.
  
• In any case - your payment is NOT deposited until I ship your books.
  
• If I split your order - i.e ship some books now and some later --- you incur higher shipping costs, but only payment for what is shipped is deposited each time.
  

• As much of my packaging material as possible is re-used - cardboard, styrofoam, etc. Your reuse and proper disposal is encouraged. Sound Fair?

  RETURNS POLICY

  The nature of the book business leaves the unscrupulous too free to extract the information the book has and simply return it. In this case a few have ruined it for the rest of us. I generally do not allow returns, and I do everything I can to avoid them.  Please ask me any questions about any book BEFORE you purchase it. If you are not sure you want it - do not order it. I can't stress this strongly enough. Besides not having the time to fill and then unfill orders, the wear and tear on the books is too great. As a last resort, returned books incur a 20% restocking fee. Refunds will be in store credit only.

  Shipping Rates

  National -- UPS . . . . International -- US Postal Service
  Costs listed below are approximate, and may be higher or lower than stated.
  I do not make money on shipping -- and I try not to lose any.

  
  UPS GROUND SHIPPING RATES  based on Zip Codes
  I only charge what it costs me - which increases by weight and zone.

  I don't make any money on shipping. UPS even charges me $11 a week just to come here. However -- they insure the contents up to $100 for free, they can tell me within an hour whether your package is lost (or not!) so that I may replace it or reassure you, and they offer a tracking service via their website so you can follow your package's progress even if you can't reach me. That has to be worth a little extra! (When you order electronically I reply with a confirmation containing your personal tracking number.)

  Next Day Air, Saturday Delivery, etc. - Requests for additional service will cost you what it costs me. I can provide an estimate if necessary.
  

  US MAIL COSTS Amounts are approximate only, and represent the minimum charged. 

• US Mail will be used at your own risk!

  Insurance - add $1 per $50 of value
  Priority - 2-3 days average - $5.65 (includes tracking - required)  for 1 lb - then it raises by weight and zone - just like UPS, only the higher, and insurance is extra! 

  International -- What it costs me - I'll get an estimate and email your choices to you - please specify Air or Surface.

  Again - Remember -- The Post Office waits 30 days to begin looking for lost packages and charges for insurance!
  US Mail is used at your own risk!

• SALES TAX -- Shipments to New York addresses must include local sales tax figured on total bill - even on shipping! (Not my call - please address complaints to your Legislator.)

• Checks or Money Orders in US funds drawn on US banks
  
• Visa * Mastercard * Discover * American Express 
  
  All orders must be accompanied by payment. Emailing your credit card information (card number and type, exp date, daytime phone number, name and address as it appears on the card account) is no safer or more dangerous than giving it over the phone, and people do it every day. If you would prefer to mail it, please include a signature. Either way, if you want me to keep it on file for your future orders, I will be happy to.

While this web site is open all the time -- I can only answer the phone from 10-6 PM daily, Sundays & holidays 12-4. That is when my real bookstore is open. Please check the Community Events page for other days I may be closed if you need to speak to me. At other times you may leave an order on my answering machine.
