Great food and plenty of people
Garlic! That great little vegetable that defines the saying "a little goes a long way", has been used by humans for over 7,000 years and has been a valuable commodity for everyone from the Romans to WWII soldiers. Both good-tasting and good for you, garlic has a wide range of uses as a seasoning and for medicinal purposes and is grown in every U.S. state except Alaska. It is high in vitamin C, contains antiseptic properties and aids in heart function and health. And of course, one can't discount it's abilities to keep vampires at bay! One side effect of garlic is the infamous "garlic breath", which can clear a room faster than a 75% off Zales promo code. Fear not! At the Saugerties Garlic Festival you'll be surrounded by others chomping away on this potent seasoning, so dig in and enjoy sampling the many different foods and preparations on hand. You and your garlic breath will be in good company at this fantastic festival! For more fun garlic facts, check out the Wikipedia page for garlic.
