Hope Farm Press

New York Genealogy Top or Hub Page

Commercial

Founded in 1959, Hope Farm Press is dedicated to preserving the history of New York State. This web site was created in 1995 to further that goal.  Over the years, it has grown to contain the largest selection of books relating to New York, as well as a wealth of New York history.

The links below are to pages created over the years for my customers. Many have varying degrees of commercial aspects, but they also contain information I feel is too important to genealogists and researchers to be left off this page.

About the New York GenWeb Project

A message was sent out over the GEN-NYS-L list in June 1996 asking if anyone would be interested in starting a New York State GenWeb page similiar to a highly successful project underway in Kentucky. Many people expressed an interest in this idea. About the same time, Jeff Murphy, coordinator of the KY GenWeb, decided to go national with the idea, and out of that grew the US GenWeb project, and the NY GenWeb project. At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. Contact the volunteer shown on the county page if you have a desire to add your data to the database. If the county in which you are interested does not have a page and you wish to participate, please contact  NYS GenWeb Coordinator.

    New York GenWeb Coordinator

To give the new NYS coordinator a better understanding of my page I'm asking anyone who frequents it to email him with their comments - good, bad or indifferent. If you don't mind, you could also CC me at hopefarm@hopefarm.com -- BUT -- that is not required. If you use the genealogy section, or have an opinion about a commercial site hosting a NYGenWeb page - your participation is encouraged.
This program works because we all contribute.
