known that I exist. I think my father wasn't the AHRENS man. BLANCHE'S

- BARCLAY - 6/02/00 -- I am a direct descendant of James Barkley
who came over on the ship the George and Anne in 1729. Some of his
descendants, both Barkleys, Barclays, and married daughters
(Crawfords) live in Ulster County ,N.Y. from 1750 to 1840 or
thereabouts. Am interested in hearing from anyone recognizing any
aspect of this genealogical relationship in their genealogy. James had
six children who lived to adulthood, and all married. They were Samuel
(from whom I am directly descended); John;James;William;Thomas; and
Margaret. One of Samuel's children married a Robert S. Crawford for
example. So too the John, a son of the first James, Samuel's brother
married Mary Crawford, the dau of James and Jean Crawford circa
1763-65. In total I know of 11 intermarriages with Crawfords, but that
is all I have. Would be interested in any information about either the
Barclays but also especially the Crawford line. Believe the Crawfords
were Presbterians and emmigrated with the Barclays as part of the
Clinton Party from Ireland, County Longford in 1729. Thank you. My
regular post address is now Luogh North, Doolin, County Clare,
Republic of Ireland. I am a former New Yorker from Westchester County
now retired here close to his roots if you will. All the best as they
say here, and hope some distant cousin sees this someday.

- CARSON - (05/21/2000) --
Daniel CARSON son of Johannes CARSON and Ann KROM, married Sarah FROST on 06
June 1806 in Marbleton Reformed Dutch Church, Stone Ridge, Town of Marbleton,
Ulster Co, NY. Did Johannes CARSON and Anna KROM have other children?
Daniel CARSON and Sarah FROST had a son named George P. F. CARSON in 1821,
could have been named after George P. FROST. They also had other children:
Sarah Ann in 1804, Matty Gosline in 1805, and Daniel Coddington in 1811.
I'm thinking there had to be more children with such large gaps between 1806
and 1811 and then again in 1821. This is a new door opened to me in my
Family Tree .... any help would be appreciated on the CARSON, FROST and KROM
families.John A. Aiello

- DECKER/ BEAMER / BUCKBEE - (9/20/00) --
Info to share plus help requested.
I have learned that in the DECKER family Bible Records in the Natl. Archives,
Wash.D.C in the Revol. War Pension Application File of Martiness DECKER,
Service: NY File No R 7158 it lists, among other Deckers:
Peter Decker born Jan. 27th, 1760
Peter Decker departed this life April 5, 1792, age 33
In the "Beamer Lore" pub. 1928 it states: " Lena BEAMER b. 1766-7 m. 1st
Peter DECKER-no doubt of Deckertown, N.J., issue Mary, Naomi, Elizabeth, and
Martin. On Oct 28, 1793, Lena Beamer, widow of Peter Decker, dec. married
John BUCKBEE. Issue: Peter, Palmer, Eleanor...."
In Admiral Benton Weaver Decker's Genealogy it lists Petrus DECKER b. 1747,
son of Andries DECKER and wife nee Maul as married to Lea Beamer.
Can anyone cite the proof used by the Admiral in determining this? It seems
to me that Peter, son of Martiness, b. 1760 is Lea's husband and not Petrus
b. 1747.

- DEMOTT / HENDRICKS / WESTBROOK /1690's - (9/ 20/00) --
Info to share.
Glued to the back of the "DeMotte and Allied Families" book, pub 1953 in the
Newberry Library, Chicago, is a single signed sheet. (sign. hard to read-
could be William (initial) Westbrook). The title is " Anna Hendricks, wife
of Michael DeMott".
The first line reads: "It is well to mention that Anna Westbrook, so named
in some of the early records, is actually Anna Hendricks, through the first
marriage of her mother."
His proof:
1. Calen. of Hist Manuscripts, by E.B. O'Callaghan, 1866, vol II p 236
entry:
Sept 16, 1693. Deposition. Anica Hendricks, in relation to the purchase by
her husband Michell de Mott, from the Indians of a tract of land in the
county of Ulster, on the Shawangunk creek... (copy available State Library,
Albany)
2. At a meeting of Justices, Mar 9, 1693/4, Joghim, an Indian and Nar
Remnemauw, (widow of Semauw), testify about land sold at Shawankonck to
Geertruy Browne and Michiel d'Mott. (Ulster Co, NY Court Records, 1693-1775
pub in NGSQ, Dec 1972 p 277)
3. (Letter, Gemeentearchief Rotterdam, Nov 15, 1968) Ursul Dircks, a young
dau. from Hamburg, living at the "Leuvenhaven,"was first mar. to Jan
Hendricksen, a young man, at Hillegersberg, near Rotterdam, on Oct 25, 1653,
after a publ. of the intended mar. on Sept 21, 1653."
He states, "From this evidence it is clear that the wife of Michael DeMott is
Anna Hendricksen, dau. of Jan Hendricksen, dec. and Ursul Dircks, and really
the step-daughter of Anthony Jansen Westbroek, the 3rd husband of Ursul
Dircks."
He adds a paragraph about Michael: "Michiel DeModt, also named De Pool,
appears in Esopus, 1665. (Holland Society Yrbook, 1897, p 121) Michiel De
Modt, the Pole, fought a duel...."

establish a direct link between my known family and Heinrich as of yet. I
have every reason to believe that these individuals are my direct relatives

welfare agancy?) in the area. In April 1895 she was sent west on an
orphan train to Kansas and was taken in by a family named Bryant. Are
there any records of the "Door of Hope" operations during the 1890-1895
period, and names of the children (and mothers) who were taken in?

My husband Michael Hall was born in New York in June 1951. He has been
looking for answers as to who his father is. Rumors have it, Clay Bessley
was the father, but other family members have brought up the name Marshall
Hall and I think that is what is on his birth certificate. Hallie Hendrick
born in West Virginia was known as his mother. Michael's daughter, now 22
years old, had a kidney desease when she was 2 years old and it could reoccur
as she gets older. Michael is a perfect match for a transplant if the need
should come about. This is supposed to be a heretitary desease. We need

We are researching the Harder (Herder, Harter, Herter) families from
Columbia Co. and Ulster Co., New York. We are descended from Johann
Michael Harter who emigrated from Germany with his brother Johann
Nicolaus to Columbia Co. in 1710. A second, apparently unrelated
German family headed by Johann Phillip Harter, also settled in
Columbia Co. in about 1736. We have accumulated a significant number
of names in our files of Harder's (Herder's, Harter's, Herter's) born
and/or living in New York, particularly in the 1700's. We would like
to hear from anyone who may have descended from the these families and
are also willing to help people establish their own Harder lines.

- LAPO - 11/04/00 -- I am looking to continue research on my family name. My name now is Lapo,
but before that, the family name was Leppo (prior to the turn of the 20th
century).
My father was born and buried in Woodstock, as were my grandfather (Reginald
Lapo), my great-grandfather (Clarence Lapo), and my great-great-grandfather
(George Lapo). I believe that George is the one who changed his branch of
the family name from Leppo to Lapo between the 1870 and 1880 censuses.
I am especially trying to find out where my great-great-great grandfather
George's father, came from. He is listed in the 1820 census in Woodstock as
'Henry Lepouchuse' (changed by 1830 to Lippo, and later to Leppo). I don't
know where he came from... France, perhaps? I don't seem to be able to find
Ship passenger lists prior to 1820.
Thanks! Richard Lapo, Jr.

GG father Josiah Trowbridge. Born 5/1/1853. Lived in Pine Hill, Quarryman.
BLUSKYH20@aol.com Judi Howard, 1651 Lemonwood Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32259.
GG father, Josiah, born 5/1/1853. married first to Mary Patterson, who had
three daughters - Myrtle, Nellie, and Sarah. Mary died giving birth to
Sarah. Josiah's second wife, Minnie Benjamin, had eight more children, only
four lived to adulthood. They were Charles, who married Blanche; Isaac,
who married Helen; Fannie, who married Al Montgomery first, Barlow Loomis
second.
Divorced both. The fourth child, Rhoda, died in 1918, during the flu
epidemic. Sarah was my grandmother. She married John Bartlow, from
Maplewood, PA, where she lived and bore five children. Three lived, the
last of whom was my mother. Sarah died when mom was a toddler and as a
result my mother was adopted her aunt Fannie Trowbridge. My search is not
only to find out the ancestors of Josiah, Mary, and Minnie. But also to
find where Josiah is buried. My grandmother Fannie died several years ago.
Her final wish was to have her ashes scattered near her father's home or
near his grave. Unfortunately, we do not know where his grave is located.
We believe that it is in Pine Hill or Kelly Corners. How can we find out
exactly where he was laid to rest? And how could we find out if the home
where he raised his children is located or still standing? We could find
not this information among my grandmother's papers. Please help or direct us
to the appropriate resouce. Thank you. We will be grateful for any
assistance you can give us.
