- CASE, DUNN, LEWIS, - 12/04/01 --
Absalom Case appears on the 1790 United States Federal Census as a
resident of New Paltz Township, Ulster County, New York. On 1800 census,
he was a resident of Upper Smithfield Township, Wayne County,
Pennsylvania. By 1810, the Cases were residents of Luzerne County,
Pennsylvania, where the family still resides. Absalom had several
children listed in the 1790 census. I am descended from one of the
younger daughters, AMY CASE, born circa 1787. She married SAMUEL LEWIS,
they resided in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Amy was the
daughter of Absalom's wife ELIZABETH DUNN, who appears to be at least a
second wife. They were married in the mid-1780s and there are are
children in the 1790 census who were clearly born before this date. I am
interested in finding out the names of the other children, their dates
and places of birth, and the name of other wives. I would also like to
know who Absalom and Elizabeth's parents were. I have information
concerning the family in Pennsylvania which I am willing to share!

- DUNAGAN - 8/28/01 -- I have an ancestor, Michael Dunagan, who first shows up in the Hunter,
Greene County, NY census in 1830 and moved to Olive, Ulster County just
before 1850.
He was born in Ireland in about 1804 and married Ellen from New York.
There weren't too many Dunagan's in these early census records, but In a
search through later census records in Greene and Ulster, I find a lot more
Dunagan's arrived in the potato famine period (1845 - 1855).
I have never uncovered one clue as to where Michael Dunagan originated in
Ireland, thus I am expanding my search a bit. Is anyone on this list
looking into the Dunagan name and does anyone know where their later
arriving Dunagan's came from?

(1807-1872). They had a daughter Sarah Ann Lord (1839-1914) who

daughter Jennie West was my maternal grandmother. She married William
Newcomb Holdridge in April, 1900. I would love to know more about

have some connection to this ancestral line. My grandfather was a
direct descendant of Governor William Bradford of Plymouth Colony, and

Nancy Merritt was born in or near Marlboro, Ulster Co., about 1813. She
married first William Taylor and then James Burnside and lived her adult
life in Albany and Rensselear Counties. I have never been able to learn
which of the Marlboro Merritts was her father. Now another researcher
has told me that in his family lore, Nancy's maiden name is given as
Jansen or Johnson. I have found only a few Jansens in Marlboro, itself,
though several lived in communities to the west and north of Marboro.
What I'd like to know is if anyone has any Jansen-Merritt marriage in
the right time period and place which might shed light on Nancy's
parents. Joy Weaver

- KONNER - 10/01/01
I am researching John Konner(Conner) and Rebecca Quick(Kwik) born about
1730 in Ulster County, NY. They have been reported to have only 5
children, one of which in NOT John. I believe that did have at least
this one addition child, John Conner(Konner) born about 1750, but to
date I have only speculation with no proof. The Quick Family History
categorically states they had only five kids(no proof given) so this has
propagated through the genealogy world-only five. Is any one
researching this John Konner family in Ulster County. I have abstract
of a John Conner Will that states he had Father(no name in Will) and at
least two brothers, Henry and Jacobus. living in 1815. Henry and
Jacobus were children of John Konner and Rebecca Quick so seems that
John may have been their child as well. Note-Henry and Jacobus were
pretty common names so this may only be coincidence. Thanks for any help.

- REILLE - (5/8/01) --
Wondering how to go about finding original source documents(marriage
records) relative to ancestor (6 G Grandfather Dene Reille - original
spelling) reportedly married to one Jeanne (Jannetje) Leroy (reportedly
at Kingston, Old Dutch Church, about 1698). BTW - the family name
underwent considerable changes - the Dutch reportedly changed it to
Relje, Ralje, etc. It also appears in other American sources as
Rellyea, Ralyea, etc. - eventual usage - "Ralya". Dene's grandson -
David Ralya (name changed by army) was a revolutionary war veteran
(pensioner).
I'd be grateful for any/all help which you could provide.

- UNDERHILL - 12/16/01 -- I am looking for a book of obits, deaths for the years of 1846-1870, and
1846-1848 Ulster Telegraph. I received about a year ago an e-mail from
a LILOLME43, who said they had these records and gave me some of the
Underhill names that were listed. At the time I didn't have anything
for sure and now I think I have a couple of names. They are either John
Jay or Jonathan Underhill and Mary Underhill. If anyone has access to
these records and can give me any information, I would really appreciate
it. I have run into a wall and can't seem to get anywhere. Thanks

- VAN METER - 6/02/01 -- I am the 6th Great-Grandaughter of John [Jan Joosten] Van Metre/Van
Meter
and his wife Margurite Miller Molenaur. What little info I have on this
line is from

descendant thru their son, Henry who married Hannah Pyle and then thru
their daughter, Ruth

I believe my 6th Great-Grandparents eventually migrated to Frederick
County, Virginia. I also have information that Jan was born in
Marbletown, Kingston NY and was a wealthy landowner and horse breeder.
If you have any information to share about the Van Meter/Molenaur
families, I would be very grateful. Many thanks.

- WAGNER - 7/31/01 --
I found in the 1870 census that my great
great grandfather JACOB WAGNER (from Buffalo-Erie County) was listed in
Saugerties as working in a lead mill. I cannot find any reference after 1870 to Jacob and I know his wife and one
son remained in Buffalo living with her parents. I am now wondering if
Jacob might have died while in Ulster COunty and if there was a cemetery
associated with the lead mill operation since many "out of town" men came to
work there and sending bodies back home would have been cost prohibitive I
presume. Any info regarding that?
Thanks so much for your help.
